Learn Greek in Greece

KLEIS - Workshop for Greek Language and Culture

Title

KLEIS-Workshop for Greek Language and Culture operates all year round in the city of Chania on Crete.

The school offers group or private Greek language courses for foreigners.

A number of extra activities that accompany the general programs enable each interested person to become familiar with Greek society and culture.

Our programs cater for

People with a mother tongue different than Greek

  • who live permanently in Greece
  • who visit Greece
  • who are professionals working in the Greek language (: teachers / professors of Modern Greek or Ancient Greek in schools / universities abroad, translators, interpreters, diplomats etc.)
  • any other interested person

Persons of Greek descent
for whom Greek is their second language

Our programs are divided into general and special ones.

While the general programs promote the learning of the Greek language according to the aims and grading of the Common European Frame of Reference, the special programs focus on particular fields of the language, on specific topics or on specific skills, according to the special interest of the participants, and are offered by arrangement

Our Facilities

KLEIS - Workshop for Greek Language and Culture

Our privately owned facilities are located in the city of Chania, in one of the best districts of the modern part of Chania, Amberia, very near to the historical and beautiful quarter of Halepa and only 5 minutes away from the busy Eleutherias square (or Dikasterion Square, as the citizens of Chania call it).

Our building is a small 19th century country house of about 100 m2, surrounded by a verandah, yard and garden, today fully integrated into the urban infrastructure of Hania and recently renovated.

The character of the interior of the house is a combination of old and modern elements. It includes three teaching rooms and the office that are fully equipped with multimedia & an internet connection, the office and a small kitchen for coffee and traditional Cretan snacks.

In the neighbourhood you can find whatever you might need: a greengrocer’s, bakery and supermarket are a two-minute walk from the school. Cafes, restaurants, bookshops, banks and KEP* can be found at Dikasterion Sq., 5 minutes away.
